Edward Mendelson for PC Magazine:
Despite minor problems, it’s by far the best operating system ever written for the vast majority of consumers.
I agree.

Interesting to note that he likes the new Dock:
I like the new 3D dock so much that I actually moved mine back to the bottom of the screen from the more sensible left-hand side.

How original.
The keyboard is just baffling:

If you thought your iPhone keyboard was hard to use, wait until you get ahold of this. Not only is it a touch keyboard with no tactile feedback, but Meizu has taken the liberty of moving some of the right hand keys.

Jon Henshaw:
6. Scroll Non-Active Windows
Scroll any open window, even if it’s not active. Simply position your mouse over the target window and scroll.
Meaning with the scrolling features of your mouse or trackpad. It’s already possible to scroll inactive windows in Tiger. Hold down command and drag an inactive scrollbar handle, or use the up and down controls. (This doesn’t work with windows belonging to Finder or iTunes–you know, the two apps that notoriously follow their own rules.)

Apple lists 300 New Features in Leopard:
AutoFS
Automatically mount and dismount network filesystems on separate threads to improve responsiveness and reliability.
Does this mean the end of Finder freezes when a mounted network volume is no longer online?

The price is blank and the estimated ship time says “not available.” Maybe this means we’ll be seeing an updated radio remote in the near future. I doubt Apple would discontinue it now, considering the recently released iPod Nanos and Classics both support it.
UPDATE: It’s back.
Apparently the capability is already there, you just need to modify a plist to enable it. Interesting.

I’m not impressed. I liked the first iPhone ads because they did something that no other cell phone ad did — show how the interface works. These new ads barely show the interface at all. (The “Mankind” ad shows the Visual Voicemail screen, but only for a few seconds.)
David J Early claims to have received an email from Mr. Jobs himself:
The inability to edit or add calendar events
is a bug that will be fixed in a future software update.
If the email is legit, it must sadden John Gruber to know that Steve is a top-poster.

Brian Jarrard, franchising director at Bungie:
Now that we’re branching of [sic] and controlling our destiny, that puts us in a position where we could put ourselves back on the [Mac] platform definitively again.
Erica Sadun:
By using symbolic links before doing a 1.1.1 upgrade, they were able to gain access to the entire 1.1.1 file tree.
Still no 3rd party apps running, but it’s nice to hear progress is being made.

Jonathan ‘Wolf’ Rentzsch:
Caps Lock doesn’t activate immediately upon strike. There’s a very small time window — perhaps a quarter of a second — where if you release the key inside the window, the keystroke is ignored.
Possibly meant to prevent accidental pressings of the Caps Lock key. Personally, I think the world would be a better place if there were no Caps Lock key at all.
Ryan Block:
All Zunes (including the Zune 30) will have a new, redesigned interface and feature parity. In other words, early Zune 30 adopters will have all the same software features as new Zune 80, 8, and 4 users
Great news for early Zune adopters.

Fox’s animated series “Family Guy” has been spotted on the iTunes Store. As of now, there is only one episode. But it’s nice to see Fox adding new shows. Personally, I’d like to see Fox add The Simpsons to the iTunes Store.
