Is the Zune team the only part of Microsoft that is not completely batshit insane? (Spoiler alert: Yes.)
Thomas Ricker reporting for Engadget:
Those of you […] looking for compatible music from Napster, Real Rhapsody, Yahoo Music, Wal-Mart and such must now look for the “Certified for Windows Vista” logo, not PlaysForSure. Of course, Microsoft’s Zune is also certified for Windows Vista, just not certified for Windows Vista so it won’t play back the same protected files.
Oh boy. This means everyone will have to start referring to PlaysForSure as “The DRM formerly known as PlaysForSure.”

Safari AdBlock is a very appropriate name for a Safari hack that blocks ads. It’s a great feeling to be able to visit a site without being distracted by obnoxious animated advertising.

ID-Design has released version 4.0 of WhatSize. WhatSize is a utility that measures the sizes of the files and folders on your hard drive, allowing you to quickly track down what is taking up all of your precious space. Previously a free product, WhatSize will now run you $12.99 if you want to remove the nagging or measure your drives with administrator privileges.
UPDATE: Version 4.1 out now, with even more nagging! And, now you must wait for the timer to complete before continuing. Excellent.

From the MacBasement archive:
Hold down the option key on your keyboard, and then mouse over a widget. The close box for that Widget becomes visible. Keep option held down as you click the close box. Poof.
This method still works, and has improved slightly in Leopard. The close box will now appear on the widget that is located under your cursor immediately when the option key is pressed. (In Tiger, the close box didn’t appear until the cursor moved.)
